Senior Software Engineer (Agentic AI)

Location: Remote across the U.S.; employees must perform all work physically within the country where they reside. International work is not permitted during scheduled work hours.

Salary: $175,000–$210,000/year

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, training, evaluation, and production deployment of ML and LLM-based systems for patient- and provider-facing healthcare products.
• Work end-to-end with clinicians and product partners to frame problems, build datasets and evaluations, iterate on models, and measure clinical and product impact.
• Develop evaluation frameworks including offline benchmarks, human-in-the-loop review, and online experiments to assess safety, accuracy, and improvement.
• Build data pipelines, training and inference infrastructure, prompt and model management, and tooling for clinical reviewers.
• Translate medical and operational requirements into ML problems and ship measurable improvements to patient and clinician experience.
• Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and contribute to engineering and scientific rigor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of hands-on engineering experience, including 1+ year building and deploying machine learning systems with generative AI.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production experience writing reliable, well-tested Python or comparable-language code.
• Practical knowledge of prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, LLM evaluation, and related trade-offs.
• Experience working with messy real-world data and designing evaluations to determine whether systems are working.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration, ownership, and motivation to improve patient outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience applying ML or LLMs in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated, high-stakes domain.
• Experience with clinical NLP, medical knowledge representation, or electronic health record data.
• Experience building production agentic systems and tool-using LLMs.
• Experience scaling ML infrastructure, including training pipelines, distributed inference, or evaluation platforms.
• Technical leadership experience through setting direction, mentoring engineers, or publishing influential work.
