IP Counsel (AI)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles require onsite attendance Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $168,100–$211,760 USD annual base pay, plus eligibility for equity compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage active intellectual property disputes from case strategy and negotiations through litigation support.
• Assess infringement reports and recommend enforcement actions in collaboration with internal teams, outside counsel, and brand protection vendors.
• Draft cease-and-desist letters, DMCA takedown notices, and platform-specific intellectual property complaints.
• Oversee the intellectual property notice-and-takedown program and resolve escalations with Trust and Safety, Developer Relations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Advise on platform liability, new product launches, and on-platform enforcement initiatives, including matters involving the DMCA and EU Digital Services Act.
• Develop playbooks, templates, policies, training, and company-wide programs for intellectual property protection.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably combining law firm and in-house work at a consumer-facing technology company.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar and authorization to work in the United States are required.
• Strong knowledge of trademark, copyright, brand enforcement, customs enforcement, technology licensing, artificial intelligence, and content moderation.
• Experience advising on platform liability in the technology industry.
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts, advise on risk mitigation, and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
• Ability to manage a complex workload independently in a fast-paced corporate environment.
