Corporate Counsel (Consumer Products)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; an active bar license in at least one US jurisdiction is required, with eligibility to register as in-house counsel where applicable. Biannual off-sites are held in person.

Base salary: $150,000–$185,000 annually plus bonus, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Own commercial contract review from intake and redlines through negotiation and execution across vendor, SaaS, marketing, creator, agency, and retailer agreements.
• Manage litigation operations, including holds, preservation, discovery, subpoenas, matter tracking, budgets, and coordination with outside counsel and Unilever litigation teams.
• Lead advertising enforcement and brand protection through cease-and-desist letters, competitor advertising challenges, trademark support, and anti-counterfeiting work.
• Build legal systems, including precedent libraries, negotiation playbooks, approval matrices, contract repositories, matter tracking, and guidelines for responsible AI use.
• Handle recurring marketing and promotions matters such as sweepstakes rules, consent language, opt-ins, and releases.
• Run legal intake and prioritization, manage outside counsel budgets and invoices, and partner with Unilever's commercial contracting, IP, privacy, employment, litigation, and Wellbeing Legal teams.

Requirements

• JD and an active bar license in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction; eligibility for in-house counsel registration where applicable.
• Approximately 3–4 years of post-JD experience and experience negotiating commercial contracts from start to finish.
• Experience with vendor, SaaS, marketing, and/or retailer agreements.
• Strong judgment in fast-moving, high-stakes situations, with the ability to handle unfamiliar legal issues independently.
• Fluent and thoughtful use of AI, including reliable verification and protection of confidential and privileged information.
• Exceptional organization, initiative, business judgment, and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.

Nice to have

• Litigation experience involving holds, discovery, subpoenas, or outside counsel management.
• Entrepreneurial experience through an operating or sales role, business degree, MBA, startup, or family business.
• Experience in CPG, DTC, supplements, food and beverage, or advertising law.
