Senior Product Counsel, Mortgages

Location: Remote within the United States; employees may live in any of the 50 states, with limited exceptions.

Base salary: $156,200–$262,600 annually, depending on location; additional equity awards may apply.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal partner for assigned hirify.global Home Loans mortgage products from concept and design through launch and iteration.
• Advise product and engineering teams on federal and state mortgage regulations, including RESPA, TILA, ECOA, UDAAP, and state mortgage licensing.
• Partner with AI/ML engineering teams on compliance guardrails, model-output testing, and evaluation criteria for AI-enabled and agentic features.
• Provide practical guidance on product design, disclosures, pre-approval tools, loan applications, and mortgage content across hirify.global platforms.
• Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, technology, services, commercial, and data-rights agreements.
• Collaborate with compliance, privacy, fair lending, marketing, communications, product, engineering, and senior management teams on legal risk and product launches.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience at a national or regional law firm or in-house legal department.
• Meaningful experience in consumer finance, mortgage, or product counseling; mortgage lender, fintech, or proptech experience is preferred.
• JD and active admission to at least one state bar.
• Strong command of mortgage and consumer lending regulations and experience advising on live product decisions.
• Experience with product development and drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Excellent communication, organizational, judgment, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GLBA, TCPA, and emerging state and federal AI or algorithmic regulation.
• In-house experience at a mortgage lender, fintech, or proptech company.
