Patient Access Liaison (Rare Disease)

Location: US - Texas - Houston; field-based role covering an assigned geography with travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.

Annual base salary: $164,276.10–$222,255.90 USD for Level 6. The posting also lists $158,394–$185,578 for Level 5.

What you will do

• Support patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and sites of care with insurance benefits, prior authorization, reimbursement, and coverage questions.
• Investigate and resolve access barriers, denied claims, reimbursement issues, and potential treatment delays or lapses.
• Educate physician offices and infusion centers on coverage pathways, coding, billing, and reimbursement requirements.
• Explain co-pay assistance, national foundation, and free-drug programs when appropriate.
• Coordinate patient cases and access initiatives with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Case Management, Marketing, and Site of Care teams.
• Maintain compliant documentation, protect HIPAA information, and report adverse events and product complaints through established processes.

Requirements

• Level 5: doctorate; or master’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or bachelor’s degree plus 4 years; or associate’s degree plus 8 years; or high school diploma/GED plus 10 years.
• Level 6: doctorate plus 2 years of relevant experience; master’s degree plus 4 years; or bachelor’s degree plus 6 years in patient services and/or access and reimbursement.
• Knowledge of prior authorization, appeals, denied claims management, healthcare reimbursement systems, coding, billing, and patient support programs.
• Ability to manage complex patient situations, resolve access barriers, communicate effectively, and work in matrix field environments.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, FDA, OIG, and applicable federal, state, and local compliance requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.

Nice to have

• Experience with buy-and-bill or infused pharmaceutical therapies.
• Rare disease or orphan drug experience.
• Clinical experience in nursing or an allied health field.
• Experience working with cross-functional field teams and Microsoft Office, CRM, AI, and related systems.
