Measurement / Mechanical Engineer (Natural Gas)

Location: Houston, Texas; hybrid work arrangement. U.S. citizenship is required, and travel is required approximately 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Provide engineering support for natural gas measurement and related equipment across intrastate pipeline projects.
• Develop preliminary project scopes, equipment sizing and selection, including piping, control valves, over-pressure protection, meters, filtration, heaters and fuel gas skids.
• Review and evaluate the design, installation and operation of gas measurement and regulation facilities for safe, efficient and compliant operation.
• Support Operations with troubleshooting, equipment evaluations, commissioning and over-pressure protection reviews.
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations, studies, technical specifications, standards, schematics and bills of material.
• Coordinate engineering work with Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Development, Operations, customers, suppliers and external consultants.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience with gas measurement design.
• Knowledge of natural gas measurement standards, including 49 CFR Part 192, ASME B31.8, AGA, API and GPA.
• Experience sizing and selecting piping, fittings, valves, flow meters and measurement equipment, including orifice, turbine, positive-displacement, Coriolis, rotary and ultrasonic meters.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, cause-and-effect diagrams and fabrication drawings; strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. citizenship, a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required.

Nice to have

• Experience providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering applications.
