Gate Station Technician I (Natural Gas)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; work at various company facilities, with shift work and possible overnight travel.

Salary: $33.14 per hour under the collective bargaining agreement.

What you will do

• Assist with the safe operation and maintenance of gate station facilities and pressure-regulating equipment.
• Operate valves, perform station inspections, and troubleshoot, calibrate, install, and maintain equipment.
• Install tubing, conduit, wiring, piping, and framework at gate station facilities.
• Perform station and grounds maintenance, including digging, snow removal, painting, grass cutting, and equipment upkeep.
• Interpret maps, station drawings, work orders, and company records while communicating through radio and verbal instructions.
• Complete related administrative support, vehicle and tool preparation, safety observations, and cross-functional training activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 months of hands-on technical experience in mechanical trades, manufacturing equipment, pumps, compressors, automotive mechanics, HVAC, electronics, gas piping, or a related area.
• Working knowledge of mathematics, physics, and electronics, with basic mechanical aptitude and drawing interpretation skills.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to meet certification requirements, and successful completion of safety, annual, entrance, and operator qualification testing.
• Intermediate computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, documents, file management, and email attachments.
• Ability to smell odorized natural gas; CDL holders are subject to federal highway regulation testing.
