TL;DR
Systems Engineering Architect (Aerospace): Designing and integrating advanced spacecraft architectures for satellite missions with an accent on avionics, power, propulsion, secure communications, navigation, and systems-of-systems engineering. Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite professional office and manufacturing environment

Salary: $200,000–$255,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Define spacecraft system architecture roadmaps aligned with mission objectives.
  • Lead analyses of alternatives across avionics, power, propulsion, communications, navigation, and security.
  • Architect end-to-end satellite solutions and establish interoperable technical standards.
  • Guide subsystem design, integration, verification, qualification, and deployment.
  • Track technical performance, schedules, budgets, and architecture project execution.
  • Mentor engineering teams and collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, mission operations, government stakeholders, and industry partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering and architecture.
  • Expertise across avionics, power, propulsion, security, computer architecture, communications, and navigation subsystems.
  • Experience architecting complex systems of systems for space missions and leading technology roadmaps and analyses of alternatives.
  • Strong background in RF communications, software-defined radios, antennas, digital signal processing, and navigation algorithms.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance are required; U.S. space technology export authorization requirements apply.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with deep-space communications, inter-satellite links, ground station networks, secure computing architectures, or spectrum management.
  • Experience working with NASA, the Department of Defense, or other government partners.
  • Patents, publications, or successful technology transitions demonstrating innovation.
