Team Lead, Avionics - Vehicle Electronics (Spacecraft Electronics)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite spacecraft hardware development

Base salary: $160,000–$210,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, and grow a team of junior and senior electrical engineers.
• Define spacecraft compute, networking, and power distribution requirements and architectures with multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee the design, build, implementation, verification, bring-up, and debugging of in-house hardware and systems.
• Manage hardware development schedules and coordinate them with the overall spacecraft program.
• Own technical relationships with third-party component suppliers and support production and mission operations.
• Recruit, interview, and hire additional avionics engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a similar technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles and board-level electronics design from concept through production.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware from scratch.
• Experience building and managing engineering teams and communicating across disciplines.
• Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit design skills.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or qualifying protected-individual status is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with signal conditioning, sensors, electromechanical actuators, power switches, or embedded computers.
• Experience with FPGAs, microcontrollers, and RS-485, SPI, Ethernet, or I2C communication.
• Strong knowledge of C, C++, or Python.
• Knowledge of radiation effects and environmental testing.
