TL;DR
Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer (Satellite Systems): Developing and deploying next-generation satellite platforms with an accent on verification and validation, integration, assembly, testing, and manufacturing transition. Focus on leading AI&T technical issue triage, managing requirements and non-conformances, and driving cross-functional design trade-offs for mission reliability.

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid work from the San Francisco HQ office 3 days per week

Salary: $162,600–$203,200 USD annual base salary

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and delivers satellite data through a cloud-based platform for commercial, environmental, and humanitarian applications.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute satellite-system verification and validation plans covering environmental, functional, and end-to-end testing.
  • Lead technical issue triage during integration, assembly, and testing phases.
  • Track requirements and non-conformances, assess cross-functional risks, and evaluate impacts on customer-specific deliverables.
  • Improve integration, assembly, and testing processes to support the transition from R&D development to scaled manufacturing programs.
  • Provide feedback to Mechanical, Thermal, ADSCS/GNC, Propulsion, Electrical, and Manufacturing engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience designing and developing satellite systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience with vehicle functional and environmental testing, requirements formulation, and verification and validation practices.
  • Familiarity with space manufacturing processes, test strategies, V&V workflows, and avionics integration, including first-order electronics debugging.
  • Ability to make real-time manufacturing decisions, manage schedules, communicate clearly, and build consensus across engineering and test teams.
  • Access to applicable export-controlled information must be possible without additional export licensing under EAR/ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • 6+ years of satellite-industry experience in design and analysis, AI&T, or V&V.
  • Experience managing spacecraft hardware and software build and development cycles.
  • Deep technical expertise in a spacecraft specialization such as structures, avionics, thermal design, or software.
  • Familiarity with NASA GEVS, SMC-S-16, satellite and rideshare launch-vehicle standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Remote-sensing experience involving electro-optical payloads.
