Data Visualization Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 annually for Chicago; ranges may vary by location.

What you will do

• Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of clinical data products.
• Perform custom analyses for account managers and clinical partners, including identifying patients who meet clinical trial criteria.
• Design, build, and maintain dashboards and stand-alone data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Translate clinical and enriched data from the Tempus Next product into visual insights for healthcare providers and health system administrators.
• Create and maintain data models and documentation, including entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, and data or dashboard inventories.
• Enable account and product managers to investigate data and create their own visualizations.

Requirements

• 3 or more years of hands-on experience developing data visualizations.
• Strong SQL and relational data experience.
• Deep understanding of data modeling patterns and best practices.
• Experience with Looker or another business intelligence tool such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and time-management skills.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-documented, scalable, version-controlled code using GitHub.

Nice to have

• Experience with clinical or healthcare data, especially cardiology or oncology.
• Experience with dbt, Python, R, JavaScript, D3, HTML, CSS, APIs, or API clients.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA, Trello, or RACI.
