Software Engineer, Investment Technology Team (AWS/Python)

Location: Hybrid, based in the Kansas City, Missouri office; employees must attend the office on a scheduled frequency. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

What you will do

• Work hands-on with Technical Leads, Product Owners, Architects, internal business partners, and vendors to identify and implement software solutions.
• Build and deliver cloud-native ETL pipelines, data analysis applications, scalable microservices, and message-driven applications through Agile development.
• Create solutions for investment management research and reporting.
• Automate manual processes and enable portfolio management and research teams to build data-driven solutions.
• Provide team-based on-call support; occasional overtime may be required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance, or business, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 5+ years of application development and support experience with Python, Pandas, NumPy, AWS S3, Step Functions, Lambdas, SNS, SQS, and Glue or Apache Spark.
• Strong demonstrable data-modeling experience for relational SQL and NoSQL applications. Preferred database technologies include SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and DB2.
• Strong understanding of architectural and software design patterns.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a passion for architectural and technical documentation.
• Broad knowledge of software engineering and testing methodologies.
• Experience working in an Agile framework.
• Demonstrated behaviors: client focus, courage and accountability, collaboration, curiosity and adaptability, and competitive drive.

Nice to have

• Cloud-native and AWS development experience.
• Experience with investment management data and data vendors such as Bloomberg or FactSet.
