Senior Engineer - Telecom Test/Communications

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, United States; field travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required, including emergency storm assignments and on-call responsibilities.

Annual salary: $129,450–$143,830, plus potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Test, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install transformer remote monitoring systems and related electronic communication devices.
• Install network communications for field equipment and interface with intelligent electronic devices through remote, serial, and fiber optic terminals.
• Support maintenance and repairs at electrical substations and coordinate equipment repairs with external vendors.
• Review test reports, complete inspection sheets, and maintain electronic reports, drawings, logs, and maintenance records.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, construction, testing, operations, dispatch, and control center personnel.
• Train and mentor Test Technicians and Test Specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of engineering experience, with electrical component troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic components, circuitry, testing equipment, hand tools, and safety practices.
• Strong knowledge of Infrared Thermography and Optical Gas Imaging camera equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring, logic, and interconnection diagrams and communicate technical information effectively.
• Critical Infrastructure Protection certification must be maintained annually; a valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
