TL;DR
Lecturer in Technology Enhanced Learning - Simulation (Nursing) (VR/XR and AI): Developing technology-enhanced simulation and accessible digital learning materials for health and social care education with an accent on simulation-based education, professional regulation, and distance learning. Focus on designing evidence-informed digital simulations, integrating VR, XR, AI and gamified learning, and applying educational theory to assessment-aligned curriculum development.
Location: Hybrid role contractually aligned to the Milton Keynes Office, with office attendance required approximately 2–3 times over 12 months or more often if business needs require; full-time office-based work is also supported.
Salary: £47,389–£56,535 per year, pro rata for part-time staff.

What you will do
- Develop and implement technology-enhanced learning and simulation for health and social care education.
- Design digital simulation experiences supporting professional learning and practice development.
- Use resources including XR Studios, Anatomage and other simulation technologies.
- Apply educational theory and constructive alignment to curriculum and assessment design.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary academic and professional teams to create learning assets.
- Produce accessible materials for distance-learning students and deliver agreed outputs within project constraints.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in nursing, health, social care or education.
- Current, active registration with a health or social care regulator, such as NMC, SSSC or SCW.
- Postgraduate teaching qualification and/or membership of Advance HE.
- Experience designing, delivering or evaluating simulation and technology-based learning in health and social care education.
- Practical experience with virtual reality, extended reality, online simulations, gamified learning or AI-supported educational tools.
- Knowledge of NMC regulatory standards and willingness to travel occasionally to Milton Keynes or other Open University locations.
