Head of Student Success and Outcomes

What you will do

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of an institution-wide student success and outcomes strategy aligned with institutional priorities and the Access and Participation Plan.
• Coordinate targeted interventions to improve continuation, completion, attainment and progression while reducing disparities between student groups.
• Work with academic teams, student services, admissions and analytics colleagues to embed inclusive approaches and secure delivery across the institution.
• Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks using Theory of Change, baseline data, milestones and quantitative and qualitative evidence.
• Use student lifecycle data, evaluation findings and feedback to refine interventions, allocate resources and identify what works for different student groups.
• Prepare senior leadership reports, regulatory evidence and institutional submissions supporting OfS Condition B3 compliance and relevant Access and Participation Plan commitments.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Substantial higher education experience leading initiatives that improve student outcomes and reduce disparities.
• Knowledge of OfS Condition B3, Access and Participation Plans and inclusive approaches to student success.
• Experience designing and evaluating evidence-informed interventions using Theory of Change principles.
• Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
• Strong strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, programme management and communication skills, with a commitment to equity, inclusion and student partnership.

Nice to have

• Relevant postgraduate or professional qualification.
• Experience with Access and Participation Plan delivery, regulatory reporting or institutional governance.
• Knowledge of advanced evaluation methods and student analytics.
• Experience managing staff, budgets or interventions across multiple faculties or campuses.
• Engagement with sector networks or external partnerships focused on student success.
