Qualification Development Lead (Digital Assessments)

Location: Manchester, Milton Keynes or Guildford, UK; hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office

Salary: £53,000–£61,000 in Manchester; £55,500–£63,500 in Milton Keynes or Guildford

What you will do

• Lead the development of digital qualification specifications, specimen assessment materials, and assessment strategies.
• Coordinate Associates, subject-matter experts, Assessment Design and Principles Leads, product teams, and quality and regulatory specialists.
• Ensure qualification materials align with Department for Education requirements, development briefs, internal standards, and digital exam platform functionality.
• Prepare materials for Ofqual accreditation, manage feedback and resubmissions, and maintain decision logs, version control, and audit trails.
• Manage risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies throughout the qualification development lifecycle.
• Contribute to concept and market testing, customer insight, accessibility, document production, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience developing digital qualifications, assessments, educational materials, or other complex education-focused products.
• Understanding of Department for Education subject content, regulatory frameworks, and the Ofqual accreditation process.
• Experience working with subject-matter experts, Associates, and multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written communication, attention to detail, planning, organisational, and document-management skills.
• Ability to assess risks, create mitigation plans, manage competing priorities, and deliver to tight deadlines.
• Understanding of assessment principles, evidence-based assessment design, education markets, or learner experience is beneficial.

Nice to have

• Experience in qualification or assessment development within an awarding organisation or similar environment.
• Experience using document production or publishing tools.
• Awareness of centre needs, learner experience, or education market requirements.
