Mechanical Engineering Manager (Central Engineering)

Location: Newport, United Kingdom. Full-time role with occasional domestic and international travel of up to 20%, including travel to the United States.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a growing multidisciplinary mechanical engineering team.
• Align priorities, requirements, and expectations with internal stakeholders and product groups.
• Provide technical guidance across mechanical engineering activities while supporting subject-matter experts.
• Lead complex projects while balancing technical, commercial, quality, and schedule considerations.
• Support the mechanical design lifecycle, including requirements definition, feasibility, design reviews, supplier engagement, system integration, and testing.
• Manage employees, contractors, and suppliers while driving continuous improvement, recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Proven experience leading and developing people in a mechanical engineering or technical environment.
• Strong mechanical engineering background and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong stakeholder-management and collaboration skills across product groups and global engineering teams.
• Knowledge of 3D CAD, design for manufacture, GD&T, FEA, or CFD.
• Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, turnkey suppliers, or component suppliers.
