Mechanical Engineer - Manufacturing (AR)

Location: Abingdon, United Kingdom; expected to work in the office 4+ days per week under a default-together approach.

What you will do

• Transfer opto-mechanical designs and manufacturing processes to contract manufacturers and production partners.
• Analyse component and sub-assembly data, including dimensional performance, from suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Support failure analysis through metrology, measurement, and design of experiments.
• Support manufacturing process development and optimisation for yield and cycle time.
• Collaborate on early prototyping, characterisation, and transfer to manufacture of AR optical engine designs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering or relevant engineering experience.
• Experience transferring mechanical designs to production and understanding manufacturing processes.
• Mechanical engineering experience focused on metrology, including CMM and CT scanning.
• Experience operating CMM equipment and CT scanners.
• Experience with CAD design software such as NX or SolidWorks.
• Ability to analyse mechanical designs and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with opto-mechanical systems, AR/VR systems, and small highly toleranced components and assemblies.
• Experience with rapid prototyping of jigs and fixtures.
• Software experience such as Python.
