Senior Autonomy Development Engineer (C++)

Location: Onsite five days a week at the Irving, Texas office, United States. Travel of up to 30% may be required. Relocation assistance is not available. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $112,710–$183,140 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, integrate, and release production-quality C/C++ software for operator safety systems.
• Develop operator awareness, personnel detection, collision mitigation, in-cab alerting, event capture, diagnostics, and machine-response capabilities.
• Build and maintain camera, sensor, perception, and data-processing pipelines for real-time or near-real-time applications.
• Support the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, coding, testing, validation, documentation, and release readiness.
• Collaborate with systems, validation, product, UI/UX, hardware, supplier, and field teams to deliver software across machine platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex issues using logs, traces, telemetry, sensor data, profiling tools, and field observations; participate in reviews and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Advanced C/C++ development experience in embedded, edge, robotics, perception, machine-control, or safety-oriented systems.
• Experience with software design, debugging, profiling, code review, static analysis, integration, validation, and release activities.
• Ability to analyze technical problems, assess solution trade-offs, identify root causes, and communicate risks and designs clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, robotics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders across the software development lifecycle.
• Must work onsite five days a week in Irving, Texas; visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with operator safety, autonomous or semi-autonomous systems, embedded Linux, edge computing, or field-deployed platforms.
• Experience with cameras, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonic, GNSS/GPS, inertial, thermal, or stereo-vision sensing.
• Machine vision and perception experience, including calibration, image processing, object detection, tracking, model integration, or edge optimization.
• Experience with GStreamer, UI technologies such as Qt or Angular, Figma, CI/CD, Git, automated testing, and Linux-based development.
• Background in construction, mining, off-highway, automotive, industrial automation, robotics, or heavy equipment.
