Senior Embedded Software Developer

Location: Peoria, Illinois; on site four days per week, subject to confirmation.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C and C++ for safety-critical applications.
• Break down complex features into technical tasks, distribute work, and contribute to architecture with the system architect.
• Review code, define best practices, and mentor less experienced developers.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, develop automated tests, and support software validation.
• Deploy multiple applications on shared embedded platforms and investigate performance issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, product, and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• At least eight years of software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C and professional experience with modern C++.
• Professional experience developing software for embedded environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Ability to work independently on complex technical features and act as a technical reference for the team.

Nice to have

• Experience improving performance on embedded compute platforms.
• Experience with Embedded Linux and Docker.
• Background in heavy equipment, automotive, mining, or industrial systems.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or ISO 13849.
• Familiarity with Yocto and Conan.
