What you will do

  • Design and optimize mission interface software connecting autonomy with Mission Control, Remote Assistance, Route Advisor, and on-truck management systems.
  • Lead development of real-time C++ components for vehicle guidance, status monitoring, mission management, and telemetry.
  • Translate system requirements into scalable software architectures, algorithms, component requirements, and verification artifacts.
  • Contribute to simulation and testing frameworks for algorithms across diverse operational design domains.
  • Collaborate with back-office, perception, controls, and safety teams on end-to-end system integration.
  • Mentor peers and improve software quality, safety, performance, and development processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 0–3+ years of relevant experience, in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong C++14/17 or later programming skills with experience in real-time, safety-critical, or high-performance applications.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and kinematic models, including bicycle models, Ackermann steering, and dynamic feasibility.
  • At least 5 years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, optimizing, and testing embedded C++ software.
  • Ability to produce clean, maintainable, testable code and clear technical documentation.
  • Role location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AV/ADAS, robotics or autonomous frameworks, ROS/ROS2, Autoware, Apollo, CAN, or Ethernet.
  • Professional Python development experience and familiarity with observability or visualization platforms such as Datadog, Tableau, or Foxglove.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262, SOTIF, ASPICE, CMMI, and software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, or vehicle testing.
  • Experience with route planning, analytical planning, reinforcement learning, learned cost models, or behavior prediction.
