TL;DR
Senior EHS Engineer (MedTech/Robotics): Leading EHS compliance monitoring and management systems for medical robotics sites with an accent on machine safety, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and Management of Change. Focus on developing safety programs, investigating incidents, addressing CAPA deficiencies, and coordinating EHS initiatives across California locations.

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States, supporting additional J&J sites in California and requiring up to 10% domestic travel.

Salary: $90,850–$146,797.50 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead EHS compliance monitoring programs and support the EHS Management System for Santa Clara and other California sites.
  • Provide technical expertise across ergonomics, contractor safety, machine safety, risk assessment, Management of Change, Lock Out Tag Out, emergency preparedness, and related programs.
  • Develop and maintain EHS programs covering hazardous materials, chemical inventory, confined spaces, fire prevention, biosafety, laboratory safety, radiation and laser safety, and warehouse safety.
  • Perform workplace and machine-safety risk assessments, job safety analyses, routine assessments, audits, and self-assessments.
  • Partner with site leadership to implement CAPA processes, address deficiencies, and maintain federal, state, local, and company EHS compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations and coordinate interactions with inspectors, auditors, regulatory agencies, and corporate offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university degree; EHS, engineering, science, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience with strong occupational safety expertise.
  • Experience with machine safety, Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out, Management of Change, and workplace EHS risk controls.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory issues, recommend actions, and collaborate with local and multi-site EHS resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other locations; up to 10% domestic travel required.

Nice to have

  • Manufacturing or R&D experience in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS Management Systems and certification.
  • Certifications such as CMSE, CIH, CHMM, CSP, or ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor.
  • Experience in air, water, hazardous and medical waste, chemical handling, or project management.
