Forward Deployed Software Engineers (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States; the role is associated with Seattle, WA and the DC area and requires approximately 25% travel for deployments and field testing.

Estimated base salary: $190,000–$210,000 per year, plus equity, bonus, and potential sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Work directly with military end users and stakeholders to understand operational challenges and deliver software solutions.
• Own features end to end, from prototyping and systems integration through deployment and performance validation.
• Build scalable systems in collaboration with engineering, product, design, operations, and Mission Success teams.
• Monitor and improve reliability and performance through instrumentation, metrics analysis, issue diagnosis, and iterative fixes.
• Make practical trade-offs between immediate mission needs and long-term maintainability.
• Travel approximately 25% to deploy, field-test, and support software in operational settings.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in Go, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Demonstrated ownership of software development and deployment for customer-facing projects.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong communication skills and interest in leading customer-facing engineering interactions.
• Active U.S. secret security clearance required; top secret clearance preferred.
• Ability to travel approximately 25% for deployments and field support.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, aerospace, or other complex operational domains.
• Knowledge of logistics, supply chain, or military sustainment.
• Experience with production deployments, AWS, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and edge infrastructure.
• Experience with data engineering, analytics, or machine learning in operational contexts.
