Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States; currently not hiring in Hawaii

Salary: $192,000–$240,000 annual base salary, plus equity; no bonus

What you will do

• Build scalable distributed systems and production web applications for provider acquisition, onboarding, and supply management.
• Design robust full-stack solutions across frontend applications, backend APIs, data models, and distributed systems.
• Lead technical initiatives across multiple teams and influence engineering strategy without direct authority.
• Use AI-assisted development tools in regular engineering workflows and help develop AI-powered engineering automation.
• Improve provider experience and marketplace dynamics so patients can find care more quickly.
• Strengthen engineering quality through code reviews, technical documentation, mentoring, and stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong full-stack experience with modern frontend frameworks, backend APIs, data modeling, and distributed systems.
• Experience leading cross-team initiatives and influencing technical strategy without direct authority.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code.
• Strong communication skills and experience aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be based in the United States; Hawaii is currently excluded.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-powered engineering workflows, tooling, or automation adopted by other engineers.
• Experience driving projects from discovery and design through launch and post-launch support.
• Experience with Node, React, TypeScript, Kafka, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
