Category Specialist - Procurement and Supply Chain (Mechanical)

Location: Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Hybrid work model with three days per week on site.

What you will do

• Develop and implement category strategies for mechanical components, castings, forgings, plastics, sheet metal, fabricated assemblies, hardware, and related products.
• Lead RFQs, supplier evaluations, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, contract management, and market analysis.
• Build supplier relationships and monitor quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost competitiveness, and production capacity.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through negotiations, value engineering, productivity initiatives, and should-cost analysis.
• Manage supply continuity risks, contingency planning, engineering changes, product transfers, lifecycle activities, and capacity planning.
• Lead supplier development, corrective actions, continuous improvement, compliance reporting, and cross-functional sourcing initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Production or Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Fluency in French and English is required.
• Strong experience sourcing mechanical commodities and understanding machining, fabrication, stamping, casting, injection molding, welding, and assembly processes.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, technical specifications, and bills of materials.
• Experience with supplier negotiations, cost reduction, supplier performance improvement, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office; SAP is an asset.
