Senior Software Engineer (eLearning)

Location: Remote within the United States, with an option to work from the Franklin, Tennessee office or use a hybrid arrangement. US-based candidates only.

Develops eLearning standards-based software used by millions of learners and integrated into software products worldwide, including solutions based on SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5.

What you will do

• Maintain and improve mature software products, ancillary tools, interfaces, and implementations.
• Develop full-stack web features from technical specification through implementation, code review, testing, and QA.
• Identify product improvements and new work using customer feedback and engineering insight.
• Write technical specifications for larger features and collaborate with support, product, operations, and other engineering teams.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to continuous technical improvement.
• Participate in weekly standups and technical discussions while keeping meetings focused.

Requirements

• Strong web application development experience with Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience building scalable, performant, secure front-end applications with a contemporary SPA framework such as Vue or React, plus HTML and CSS.
• Experience implementing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Familiarity with agile development, estimation, version control, quality assurance, and release management.
• Ability to work with multiple programming languages or frameworks, write technical or functional specifications, and mentor engineers.
• Must be US-based; direct hire only, with no contracting agencies or contract arrangements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Unix command-line tools.
• Experience deploying web applications on AWS.
