Location: Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, United States; remote work may be considered for candidates outside Mississippi.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain software for receiving, quality-checking, distributing, and archiving data from NDBC’s global buoy network.
• Help build the next generation of NDBC information technology systems.
• Develop web applications and RESTful APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Design and work with databases, SQL, and data models.
• Collaborate through Agile methodologies, Git, and pull request workflows.
• Translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and support collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

• Entry-level proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C#.
• Experience with a modern web framework such as React, Vue, or Angular, and RESTful APIs.
• Foundational knowledge of database design, SQL, data modeling, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.
• Understanding of cloud concepts including storage, networking, serverless computing, and hosted databases.
• Familiarity with Linux or Windows environments, Git, Agile methods, and collaborative development.
• Must successfully complete a NOAA/NASA background investigation and obtain facility credentials and a Public Trust clearance; US citizenship or a valid Green Card is required for credentials at this work location.
