TL;DR
Legal Counsel (SaaS/Technology Contracts): Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating client, supplier, technology, and professional services agreements for a global financial services consultancy with an accent on SaaS, cloud hosting, data protection, and technology partnerships. Focus on advising UK, MENA, and APAC business teams, maintaining contract templates, and ensuring compliance with UK and EU privacy law.
Location: Leeds, United Kingdom. Hybrid working with typically 2–3 days per week in the Leeds office; occasional travel may be required.

What you will do
- Review, draft, and negotiate client contracts, including MSAs, engagement terms, SOWs, NDAs, and subcontract arrangements.
- Review and negotiate supplier, technology partnership, and professional services agreements.
- Draft and negotiate SaaS, cloud hosting, software licensing, reseller, referral, and other IT agreements.
- Prepare data processing terms, joint controller clauses, data transfer mechanisms, and information security requirements.
- Draft and maintain legal templates across business units and ensure contracts comply with applicable law, regulations, and company policies.
- Provide practical legal advice to business divisions, with a focus on the UK, MENA, and APAC.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales, or an equivalent common law qualification.
- 2–4 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house environment, preferably in technology, SaaS, IT services, consulting, or financial services.
- Solid experience drafting and negotiating SaaS, IT, and professional services contracts.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU data protection law, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Ability to advise business teams directly and communicate clear, practical recommendations.
- Strong negotiation, communication, attention-to-detail, and prioritization skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in professional services or financial services.
- Experience advising on contracts governed by laws other than English law, particularly in MENA and APAC.
