Senior UX Designer (AI) (Public Safety Software): Leading UX strategy and hands-on design for mission-critical control room software supporting incident management, resource coordination, and operational decision-making with an accent on complex workflows, research, accessibility, and scalable design systems. Focus on coordinating design across multiple Scrum teams, mentoring designers, facilitating evidence-led decisions, and creating implementation-ready experiences for high-pressure operational environments.
Location: Remote or hybrid in the United Kingdom, subject to location. Candidates must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK.

What you will do
- Lead UX strategy and design direction for mission-critical control room software used by emergency services and public safety organisations.
- Develop and maintain a UX roadmap aligned with user needs, product priorities, technical dependencies, and delivery plans.
- Coordinate design activity across multiple Scrum teams and establish consistent standards, reusable patterns, and design system adoption.
- Design complex user journeys, workflows, interactions, wireframes, prototypes, and implementation-ready designs.
- Plan and conduct user research and usability testing, translating evidence into design recommendations and product decisions.
- Mentor designers, facilitate workshops, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, and champion accessibility and inclusive design.
Requirements
- Eligibility for UK Security Clearance is required.
- Significant experience designing complex enterprise, case management, operational, or internal digital products, supported by a portfolio showing measurable outcomes.
- Experience leading or supporting UX or Product Designers across multiple delivery teams or workstreams.
- Strong hands-on user-centred design experience covering journeys, interaction design, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs.
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, communication, accessibility, and inclusive design skills.
- Experience owning and applying design systems, reusable components, and design patterns, including Material UI.
Nice to have
- Experience in public safety, emergency services, policing, fire, ambulance, justice, or similarly complex operational environments.
- Experience designing products spanning multiple screens, user roles, workflows, or interconnected systems.
- Experience with established design systems such as Material Design or Human Interface Guidelines.
- Experience using AI-powered design, research, or prototyping tools.
- Experience designing AI-enabled product experiences.
