Test Architect (AI/ML)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $190,000–$250,000 per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Set the technical strategy and architecture for end-to-end test automation across frontend, backend, 3D modeling, and AI/ML systems.
• Develop the AI-first testing approach, including AI-assisted authoring, self-healing automation, AI-generated specification-driven tests, and LLM-based triage.
• Architect post-deployment verification, production smoke testing, synthetic monitoring, and continuous validation of live environments.
• Define testing standards for APIs, integrations, medical imaging, clinical data interoperability, reports, and complex visualizations.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD and lead root-cause investigations across distributed systems.
• Own test documentation, requirements traceability, tool validation, audit support, regulatory submissions, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in software test engineering, SDET, or quality engineering, including hands-on architecture of automation frameworks.
• Substantial experience testing Software as a Medical Device or other regulated medical device software is required.
• Deep knowledge of medical device QMS practices and standards, including ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and 21 CFR Part 820, is required.
• Expert proficiency with Selenium/WebDriver and Playwright, including framework architecture, parallel execution, stability, and flake reduction.
• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C#, or another mainstream automation language.
• Experience with API and contract testing, CI/CD, cloud environments such as AWS, distributed systems, and complex debugging.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ketryx, Jama, Polarion, DICOM, HL7, clinical validation, medical imaging, or 3D visualization testing.
• Experience with RA/QA partnerships, regulatory audits, desktop application automation, diverse test datasets, or non-functional testing tools.
• Experience with data-pipeline testing, large-scale microservices, and actionable quality metrics.
