Senior Staff Engineer - Cloud Platform (AWS/Terraform)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; onsite office environment. Minimal travel required.

Base salary: $169,500–$239,500 annually, adjusted by geographic market, knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.

What you will do

• Design and create cloud-based products and services, including automation tools, standards, DevOps tooling, and AWS account provisioning automation.
• Lead complex initiatives and end-to-end development from ideation through CI/CD, security scanning, and production monitoring.
• Improve development procedures and redefine interfaces between cloud platform products and application installation and configuration processes.
• Document infrastructure through architecture diagrams, runbooks, READMEs, and code-level commits.
• Own incident response and root cause analysis for high-impact issues while ensuring maintainability, performance, and observability.
• Provide technical leadership, serve as a subject matter expert, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with 7 years of experience, bachelor’s degree with 9 years, associate degree with 11 years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 7 years of experience with cloud infrastructure in a highly available production environment.
• Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, RDS, Systems Manager, and IAM.
• Advanced knowledge of infrastructure as code, especially Terraform, plus intermediate knowledge of cloud and infrastructure automation.
• Ability to develop complex technical solutions, lead large initiatives, communicate across organizational levels, and coordinate with external stakeholders.
• Technical certification may be required.
