Senior/Staff DevOps (AWS)

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States. U.S. citizenship is required; no active security clearance is required, although some positions may require eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Base salary: $192,000–$281,000 annually. Estimated total compensation: $281,000–$455,000, including target bonus and estimated equity value.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate AWS-based infrastructure for single-tenant and multi-tenant environments.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform and deployment automation with Ansible or similar tools.
• Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines and application environment automation.
• Design observability systems covering metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting.
• Partner with application and backend teams on architecture, performance tuning, and operational readiness.
• Contribute to IAM, network security, secrets management, security scanning, runbooks, and platform documentation.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and availability for full-time, on-site work in Arlington, Virginia.
• Experience administering AWS infrastructure and operating production applications.
• Experience managing Terraform-based single-tenant and multi-tenant systems.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, network security, PKI, TLS certificates, certificate authorities, and mTLS.
• Experience with Ansible or comparable configuration-management tools and GitHub Actions or another CI/CD platform.
• Experience with reliability engineering, Grafana observability, OpenTelemetry, production PostgreSQL, messaging systems, secrets management, Python automation, and security scanning.

Nice to have

• Experience with large datasets, performance and storage trade-offs, retention policies, and graph databases such as Neo4j or AWS Neptune.
• Experience or strong interest in threat modeling, infrastructure hardening, secure defaults, and cybersecurity operations.
• Experience creating runbooks and internal platform documentation for non-infrastructure teams.
