Commercial Credit Senior Associate, Commercial Real Estate (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, four days in office; locations available in Tarrytown, Buffalo, Syracuse, or Albany, New York, United States

What you will do

• Underwrite new commercial real estate credit requests and material loan modifications from deal screening through approval and the full loan lifecycle.
• Manage commercial credit portfolios through annual reviews, covenant monitoring, interim updates, problem-loan management, and early-warning indicators.
• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, due diligence reports, credit data, industry research, and market trends.
• Prepare cash flow analyses, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, financial models, guarantor analyses, and risk ratings.
• Recommend transaction structures, terms, conditions, controls, collateral, guarantors, and appropriate risk mitigants.
• Partner with relationship managers, credit analysts, clients, and credit committees while presenting analyses and supporting sound lending decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, plus five years of relevant commercial credit or financial analysis experience; an alternative education and experience combination is accepted.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, credit metrics, ratio analysis, and trend analysis.
• Ability to understand and negotiate legal documentation, perform structural analysis, and independently structure transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, lead transaction execution with a Commercial Credit Analyst, and interact with customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, Bloomberg, or nCino.
• Experience with commercial real estate underwriting.
• Experience training junior or newly hired analysts.
