Facilities HVAC/Refrigeration Maintenance Tech Lead (HVAC/Refrigeration)

Location: Normandale campus in Bloomington and Edina, United States; onsite role. First shift, Monday–Friday, 5:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.; emergency calls, occasional overtime, holidays, and 10-hour shifts may be required.

Base wage: $37.30–$49.29 per hour, plus a 10% premium for team-lead responsibilities.

What you will do

• Lead HVAC technicians in daily activities and coordinate work with management, engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal customers.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations for HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, motors, chillers, refrigeration units, compressors, fans, coils, and piping.
• Monitor and troubleshoot building systems and alarms using the Johnson Controls building automation system.
• Create work orders, complete service requests in the CMMS, order parts and tools, and manage inventory.
• Respond to equipment failures, spills, leaks, and other emergencies; perform minor plumbing, safety inspection, and grounds-related work.
• Support continuous improvement and compliance with environmental and workplace safety requirements.

Requirements

• HVAC certification training, at least two years of experience, or equivalent formal apprenticeship training in operation and troubleshooting.
• CFC certification and a boiler license, or willingness to obtain the license within six months.
• Ability to work independently, work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds, and distinguish between low and high voltage.
• Strong customer service, organization, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and work occasional overtime and holidays.

Nice to have

• Johnson Controls experience.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Associate degree in HVAC or technical college education.
