Lead Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Glendale, California; Orlando, Florida; or Seattle, Washington, United States

Salary: $148,300–$198,800 per year in Orlando; $155,700–$208,700 per year in California; $163,000–$218,700 per year in Seattle.

What you will do

• Own backend Java services end to end, from design and development through testing, launch, monitoring, and optimization.
• Build and improve ticketing products supporting tickets, annual passes, special events, and park reservations.
• Design, debug, test, and implement software components and scalable cloud-based systems.
• Lead code reviews, establish engineering standards, and maintain application quality and stability.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product owners, technical program managers, and business units on product requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to project estimation, planning, and technical recommendations.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of backend development or software engineering experience in a large enterprise environment.
• Strong experience with Java, Docker, Spring Framework, AWS managed services, and agile software delivery.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
• Experience with relational databases, NoSQL data stores, design patterns, and data structures.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, information systems, software, electrical or electronics engineering, or a comparable field, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong communication, mentoring, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance testing, application profiling, JUnit, Firebase Test Lab, or Sauce Labs Test Cloud.
• Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, Fargate, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Elasticsearch, MariaDB/MySQL, and developer tools.
• Experience with AI tools such as RAG, Cursor, GitHub MCP, and MariaDB MCP.
• Familiarity with GitLab, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor.
