Lead Software Engineer (Java/AWS)

Location: Must be based in Chicago, Peoria, or Dallas, United States. The role requires up to 10% travel; relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $128,470.00–$208,770.00 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain the hirify.global Product Content platform, delivering product and parts data to Cat.com, Shop.cat.com, Parts.cat.com, and dealer systems.
• Design and implement scalable, cloud-native Java applications and services for enterprise platforms.
• Build RESTful APIs, microservices, asynchronous processing, and event-driven integrations.
• Develop AWS solutions using serverless, container, database, messaging, and integration technologies.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, deployment validation, and production troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to resolve integration, workflow, and application challenges.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, microservices, and enterprise backend development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures, including Lambda, ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, SQS, and SNS.
• Experience with relational databases, data-access patterns, automated testing, CI/CD, source control, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of software architecture, integration engineering, testing strategies, and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• AWS certification or advanced production experience with AWS.
• Experience with enterprise application modernization and migration to cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with Docker, containerized applications, API security, observability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with high-volume distributed applications and providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, code reviews, and mentoring.
