Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (PCB and PCBA)

Salary: $100,000–$205,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes for PCBAs.
• Write PCBA manufacturing work instructions covering solder rework, conformal coating, staking, underfill, and functional and environmental testing.
• Own functional, software, and environmental acceptance testing, including thermal cycling and hardware acceptance testing.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and update PCBA test systems while supporting production-floor technicians.
• Collaborate with design engineers on drawing reviews, manufacturability, DFM, and DFA for PCBs and PCBAs.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve production rate, yield, cost, quality, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of manufacturing experience with PCBs and PCBAs.
• Strong understanding of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes and materials.
• Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting PCBA test systems.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain the required U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• PCB and PCBA manufacturing experience for space applications.
• Experience with automated optical inspection and X-ray or CT inspection of PCBAs.
