RF Components Engineer II (Aerospace): Developing, integrating, and qualifying RF flight components for satellite vehicles and ground-station connectivity with an accent on signal-chain design, automated testing, and space-environment validation. Focus on driving thermal, vibration, shock, TVAC, and EMI qualification, automating measurements with Python, and investigating failures to mitigate flight risks.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $144,020–$184,026 per year for Engineer II, plus potential long-term incentives in stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

  • Serve as the responsible engineer for RF flight components, including radios, power amplifiers, antennas, and filters.
  • Define specifications, select or design components, and manage their complete product lifecycle with RF Systems Engineers.
  • Coordinate interface requirements with Flight Software, Structures, and Integration & Test teams.
  • Own product acceptance and qualification testing for thermal, vibration, shock, TVAC, and EMI space environments.
  • Develop Python-based test software using libraries such as PyVISA to automate equipment and measure component performance.
  • Investigate test failures through root cause analysis and implement flight-risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, function generators, power meters, and power supplies.
  • Familiarity with LNAs, power amplifiers, mixers, filters, oscillators/synthesizers, attenuators, and switches.
  • Experience designing and integrating RF components into transmit or receive signal chains.
  • Proficiency with Python and familiarity with test software libraries such as PyVISA.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • Experience establishing HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and operating system-level tests.
  • Familiarity with Unix environments and environmental test equipment such as vibration shakers and TVAC or thermal chambers.
  • Experience developing test cases and equipment for vehicle operating conditions.
  • Project or program management experience.
