Safety & Environmental Coordinator

Location: Newport, TN, USA; onsite at a paper mill and converting complex

Pay: $32.33 per hour

What you will do

• Implement and advance safety, training, and environmental health and safety programs for the Newport Industrial Complex.
• Develop and conduct weekly and monthly safety meetings, employee safety orientations, and safety training while maintaining training records.
• Lead Behavior-Based Safety, Safety Hour, R3 residual risk reduction, hazard identification, and safety reward programs.
• Manage the Intelex Safety Management Tracking System, including hazards, near misses, observations, incidents, audits, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Conduct safety audits, investigate close calls and incidents, maintain floor presence, and support safety audits at other hirify.global plants.
• Complete wastewater SOPs and maintain environmental compliance documentation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a safety coordinator or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
• OSHA 30 certification must be maintained.
• Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, hazard identification, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to conduct safety training and education programs, work overtime, and visit and train alternative shifts as needed.
• Basic EMT certifications, including CPR and AED, must be obtained and maintained.

Nice to have

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) certification.
