Manager, Environmental Health and Safety (Manufacturing)

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin, United States; primarily site-based. The role works in both office and manufacturing environments and includes occasional travel to other Apogee locations.

What you will do

• Lead the site EHS strategy, programs, culture, and multi-year roadmap in alignment with Architectural Metals and Apogee priorities.
• Partner with site leadership, Operations, HR, Maintenance, Quality, Corporate EHS, and Segment EHS to identify risks and strengthen accountability.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, State DNR, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Manage environmental programs covering waste, air, water, stormwater, hazardous materials, permits, reports, and records.
• Lead incident reviews, root cause analysis, corrective actions, EHS training, communications, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Track EHS metrics and trends while integrating EHS expectations into daily work, leadership routines, and operational planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• CSP, CIH, or another relevant EHS certification.
• At least 5 years of EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing, including experience leading site-level EHS programs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication, influencing, problem-solving, organization, project management, and change leadership skills.
• Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution and use EHS systems and data to support decisions.
