Manager, Solutions Engineering (Utilities)

Location: US Remote; travel up to 50% is required for customer engagements, team field activities, trials, and company events.

Annual salary: $210,000–$275,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Hire, develop, retain, and manage the career progression of the Utilities Solutions Engineering team.
• Set standards for technical discovery and solution design across utility inspection, storm restoration, vegetation management, hydro and dam inspection, and water and wastewater assets.
• Own technical win rate, paid dock trials, rental motions, customer deployments, and conversion to closed-won business.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point and represent hirify.global at industry events, customer summits, and executive briefings.
• Guide integrations involving ESRI and GIS, DroneDeploy, REST-based APIs, customer data lakes, and utility inspection payloads.
• Direct customer feedback into product teams and build reference architectures, demo scripts, workflow documentation, and playbooks.

Requirements

• Experience in Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or technical pre-sales for electric or water utilities.
• Knowledge of thermography, LiDAR acquisition and processing, photogrammetry, and survey-grade accuracy requirements.
• Familiarity with utility regulations and procurement, including PUC approval cycles, capital planning, and BVLOS waiver pathways.
• Demonstrated people leadership, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and building team processes.
• FAA Part 107 Certificate or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and lift up to 60 lbs unaided.

Nice to have

• Utility UAS program ownership, condition-based maintenance, or asset health analytics experience.
• Experience with dock-based, remote, and BVLOS operations at scale.
• Familiarity with NERC, FERC, state PUC reporting, Salesforce, Jira, or Databricks.
• Experience scaling a technical team during rapid growth.
