Information Security Engineer (Cloud) - Contract

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, with on-site offices in Toronto and Montreal

Salary: CAD 85,000–90,000 per year

What you will do

• Monitor and improve cloud security posture across AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365 using CSPM tooling, Microsoft Secure Score, Entra ID, Defender, and Purview.
• Translate cloud misconfigurations, network exposures, over-permissioning, and hardening findings into remediation tasks with DevOps, Infrastructure, Systems, and Engineering teams.
• Evaluate security requests, access exceptions, vendor risks, cloud architectures, SaaS integrations, and IT change requests.
• Coordinate vulnerability management by prioritizing findings, assigning remediation actions, and validating patches.
• Administer security tools, maintain hardening baselines and guardrails, and create runbooks, guidelines, SOPs, and triage procedures.
• Support security operations through alert triage, investigation assistance, and incident follow-ups.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, cloud security analysis, vulnerability management, or SOC/SecOps.
• Operational experience with Microsoft 365 security portals, including Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, and Purview.
• Practical knowledge of AWS and/or Azure security principles, including IAM, security groups, and resource hardening.
• Experience with security request intake, risk exceptions, technical risk assessments, IT change management, ticketing workflows, and operational documentation.
• Understanding of CSPM, SaaS security hygiene, MFA, Conditional Access, least-privilege RBAC, data protection, and permission governance for AI productivity tools.
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams, prioritize risks, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and manage multiple remediation workflows.

Nice to have

• Microsoft SC-200, SC-300, or AZ-500 certification.
• CompTIA Security+ or CySA+ certification.
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification.
