Information Security Advisor

Location: North York, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work from home or the office based on business and client needs

Base pay: CAD 65,000–105,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct information security risk assessments for business initiatives, applications, cloud-based technologies, and third-party suppliers.
• Review contracts and security clauses to ensure appropriate information security requirements are included.
• Assess projects against information security policies, directives, controls, and industry best practices.
• Provide security consulting to protect confidential information from disclosure, modification, or destruction.
• Report assessment status and identified risks to management and provide preliminary recommendations.
• Track remediation plans and target dates with business and technology risk owners.

Requirements

• University degree, college diploma, or comparable professional training in computer science, engineering, information technology, information security, risk management, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in information security and information technology.
• In-depth knowledge of information security and IT principles, protocols, practices, and industry standards.
• Experience conducting risk assessments for cloud-based SaaS technologies, including AWS and Azure.
• Strong communication, negotiation, report writing, and stakeholder management skills, including communication with senior staff and executives.
• Reliability Status Clearance is required before starting employment, including a law enforcement inquiry, credit check, and disclosure of qualifying periods lived or travelled outside Canada.
