TL;DR
Shift Lead (AI/Autonomous Driving): Leading Vehicle Safety Operators and coordinating safe, efficient on-road testing operations with an accent on shift management, incident response, quality standards, and team development. Focus on supervising rotating shifts, resolving operational problems, reporting incidents and performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement in autonomous vehicle testing.

Location: Onsite in Leonberg, Germany. Dedicated rotating shifts require office presence during operating hours, including early shifts from 6:30–15:00, late shifts from 14:30–23:00, weekends, and public holidays. Remote work from other locations is permitted only by exception and may require short-notice attendance.

What you will do

  • Lead, supervise, and line-manage Vehicle Safety Operators during rotating shifts.
  • Manage schedules, task assignments, performance, KPIs, and daily fleet operations.
  • Enforce safety and quality standards during on-road autonomous vehicle testing.
  • Act as the initial Operations Officer for on-road incidents and follow major incident procedures.
  • Prepare shift reports covering performance, incidents, and deviations from SOPs.
  • Coordinate training, coaching, feedback, and continuous improvement with Quality Assurance and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Full clean German driving licence and at least five years of driving experience in Europe.
  • Proven experience as a team coordinator or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organisation, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage fatigue, stress, and multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in both English and German; willingness to complete a health check and comply with random drug and alcohol testing.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading vehicle testing, autonomous vehicle environments, or technical demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of autonomous vehicle technology or autonomous systems.
  • T1 and T2 Bertha certification.
