Distinguished Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; onsite at the Crossman Respect Building home office

Salary: $169,000–$338,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable, cloud-native AI-powered software systems and intelligent automation solutions.
• Write production-quality code, build automated tests, and own implementations through production deployment.
• Translate domain strategies into reliable system-level implementations while maintaining architectural integrity.
• Drive operational excellence through code reviews, architectural decisions, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and incident management.
• Identify architectural bottlenecks, automate manual processes, and improve developer experience.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, and Transportation stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field plus 6 years of software engineering experience, or 8 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience designing and developing scalable, cloud-native software systems and AI-powered solutions.
• Hands-on coding expertise with ownership of detailed design, production code, automated quality, and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, incident management, platform design, and development.
• Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, collaboration, mentorship, and technical judgment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant computer science or software engineering field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, digital accessibility, and accessibility best practices.
