Controls Software Test Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Clarksville, Tennessee, United States; onsite Monday through Thursday, with a flexible work location on Fridays.

Annual base salary: $52,300–$74,199.99.

What you will do

• Analyze functional requirements and create comprehensive test cases.
• Write functional test procedures and automated test scripts for embedded-based software.
• Execute formal product tests, conduct exploratory testing, and verify defect fixes.
• Report product issues in the defect tracking system and recommend improvements to testing processes.
• Build and maintain test facilities, including test rooms, hardware, and software.
• Assist with hardware and software simulators and advance testing tools and technologies within Controls Engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent software development or testing experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel macros, pivot tables, XML files, formulas, and commands.
• Understanding of and adherence to safety measures when working with electrical equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, dependability, judgment, and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Knowledge of current testing methodologies, quality assurance practices, object-oriented and component-based development is desirable.
• Programming experience in Python, C, C++, or other languages is desirable.

Nice to have

• Experience developing software using AI tools.
• Internship or other experience in embedded controls development, software implementation, and structured software testing.
• Experience with automated testing and configuring embedded controllers.
• Knowledge of industrial or embedded controls, building control systems, unitary refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment operation.
