Software Test Engineer (Defense Technology)

Location: Hybrid/on-site in San Diego, California, with at least three days in the office; up to 20% travel required

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 or $114,000–$184,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and education

What you will do

• Integrate and test software solutions across the Integrated Mission Systems business area.
• Gather user requirements, define system functionality, and develop test plans for integrated commercial applications.
• Provide feedback to developers and collaborate with software, systems, and integration engineers and subject matter experts.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for software deployment.
• Integrate third-party and externally developed software into containerized runtime environments.
• Apply security, reliability, performance, configuration management, and DoD industry standards during reviews and delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cybersecurity, mathematics, aeronautical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with one or more of Git, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, containers, SQL, relational databases, Linux command line, or React.
• Experience with container concepts such as Docker, OCI, or Podman images, containers, and registries.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Ability to work on-site in San Diego at least three days per week.
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, problem-solving, teamwork, and ownership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD and Naval systems.
• Experience with DevSecOps, visualization, human interface development, remote monitoring, maintenance, or software upgrades.
• Experience with cloud computing, VMware, networking, APIs, automation scripting, big data solutions, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
