Engineer II, Software Automation (Medtech)

Location: On-site in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $80,000–$105,000 annual salary, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Develop, execute, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and infrastructure for instrument- and system-level testing.
• Build reusable test libraries, device interfaces, protocol libraries, utilities, and shared automation components.
• Contribute to system and product test strategies focused on automation, repeatability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve system testability, observability, interfaces, communication protocols, and diagnostics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development, test automation, software verification, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with automated testing tools and scripting languages such as Python, C#, C++, or Java.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD systems, modern software development practices, defect tracking, and test management tools.
• Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies, with strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in medical devices or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA Quality System Regulation, or similar software quality standards.
• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability or messaging standards such as HL7 or WCTP.
• Experience with cloud platforms and container or orchestration tools such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.
