TL;DR
Engineering Technician C (Aerospace): Assembling and integrating complex electromechanical spaceflight components in a manufacturing and prototyping environment with an accent on optical alignment, precision measurement, and manufacturability. Focus on reading technical documentation, handling fragile assemblies, maintaining manufacturing records, and performing cable, harness, soldering, and optical testing work.

Location: Rochester, New York, United States; onsite assembly and integration work. The schedule is 9/80, with every other Friday off. Overtime, shift work, weekends, holidays, and some travel may be required.

Salary: $26.20–$48.79 per hour

What you will do

  • Perform optical alignment in manufacturing and prototyping environments.
  • Assemble and integrate complex electromechanical spaceflight components.
  • Work with engineers on new and existing product designs to improve manufacturability.
  • Read drawings, blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
  • Measure, inspect, and work with fragile, precise assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing records and documentation.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with 0–2 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with verniers, calipers, scales, and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to work with fragile and precise assemblies.
  • Willingness to work overtime, shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel.

Nice to have

  • Electrical, mechanical, or optical fabrication experience.
  • Aerospace or defense industry experience.
  • Experience with cable and harness fabrication, component soldering, and measurement analysis.
  • Experience with optical interferometry, MTF testing, lens bench testing, or resolution testing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
