Avionics Technician (Second Shift) (Spacecraft Electronics): Building, assembling, modifying, and repairing spacecraft PCBAs and electromechanical avionics hardware with an accent on fine-pitch soldering, SMT rework, coatings, and high-reliability workmanship. Focus on performing board-level repairs, conducting electrical inspections, and supporting acceptance testing and engineering modifications for spacecraft operating in and beyond low Earth orbit.
Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite, second shift
Compensation: $25.00–$55.00 per hour

What you will do
- Perform fine-pitch soldering, SMT assembly, rework, underfill, staking, and conformal coating on spacecraft PCBAs.
- Build, modify, and repair avionics hardware including PCBAs, batteries, antennas, reaction wheels, and enclosures.
- Perform component replacements, wiring updates, jumpers, mechanical integration, visual inspections, and basic electrical checks.
- Operate and maintain microscopes, soldering stations, reflow tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electronics lab equipment.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues and improve technical processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in PCBA assembly, soldering, and rework.
- Proficiency with SMT and through-hole components, including fine-pitch packages.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and PCB documentation.
- Experience with component replacements, wire modifications, jumpers, board-level repairs, and electromechanical assembly.
- Experience with underfilling, conformal coating, staking, or potting materials.
- Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.
Nice to have
- Experience with PCBA acceptance testing, including thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, and vibration testing.
- Experience in aerospace, spaceflight, defense, or other high-reliability electronics.
- IPC-A-610 or IPC-7711/7721 certification or equivalent training.
- Experience with prototype builds, first-article assemblies, or rapid-turn engineering modifications.
